Methysergide is an ergot alkaloid-derived serotonin antagonist formerly used in the prophylactic treatment of migraine and cluster headaches. Due to risks of fibrotic complications (retroperitoneal, pulmonary, and cardiac valvulopathy), its clinical use is now extremely limited or unavailable in many countries.
